OPERATIONS MANAGER – OYA Black Arts Coalition (OBAC)
OYA Black Arts Coalition (OBAC) is a not-for-profit organization established in 2019. Our mission is to empower Black creatives with the skills, resources, and opportunities necessary to thrive in the film, television, and digital media industries, while addressing systemic inequities through advocacy, mentorship, training, and community building.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Operations Manager ensures the smooth running of OBAC’s daily operations, supporting efficiency, compliance, and sustainability. This role bridges administration, HR, finance, fundraising, and communications, while coordinating closely with the leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
- Administration & Coordination: Oversee daily office operations, workflow, and communications. Maintain administrative systems, records, and software in compliance with nonprofit, labour, and arts-sector standards.
- Leadership & HR: Support hiring, training, and supervision of staff. Uphold HR policies in line with Ontario employment standards. Track and evaluate program outcomes for reporting to the board and funders. Manage employee benefits.
- Finance & Fundraising: Collaborates closely with the bookkeeper to oversee the organization's financial activities and operations. Responsibilities include overseeing budgets (i.e. payables, receivables and payroll) for all programs and the organization. Liaise with auditors and ensure transparent reporting to funders and stakeholders.
- Planning & Communications: Collaborate with the Executive Director on strategic initiatives. Strengthen OBAC's brand and community presence through effective communication and strategic partnerships.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree/diploma and minimum 3–5 years’ senior management experience in arts/nonprofit operations and administration.
- Proven leadership, organizational, and financial management skills is essential.
- Strong communication and relationship-building ability.
- Familiarity with Black community engagement and media arts from an anti-oppression lens.

Compensation
$75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
